Did you know from the time a litter of puppies is born up until that dog is placed with a blind or visually impaired individual, Freedom will have invested $30,000 into that ONE Guide Dog?! Freedom’s cost for placing a Guide Dog is below the national average and we provide our dogs completely free of charge to the recipient! We rely on generous donors to help us make this possible.
Introducing a new way to help us fulfil our mission each and every day. Support our Moms and Puppies in our nursery, Cover the cost of a vet bill for a puppy in training, provide a College Care Package to one of Freedom’s Guide Dog Trainee’s, Provide a placement bag to a handler and Guide Dog Team or help us with travel expenses for Puppy or Guide Dog Placements. You can allocate what you would like your generous donation to go towards and by doing so you are allowing us to continue to ‘Provide another pair of eyes to those who can not see.’

Our Puppies in Training Packages
We currently have 75 Puppies being raised in Volunteer Puppy Raiser Homes. Our Puppy Raisers make sure the puppy they are raising is up to date on all their vaccines and schedules the pup to be Spayed or Neutered at 6 months old. We cover all veterinary expenses for our puppies being raised in volunteer homes and provide Heartworm and Flea/Tick Prevention during the entire Puppy Raising Process!

Guide Dog Trainee College Care Package
Freedom has 2 training classes per year, a Summer Class and Winter Class. Each class, on average, consists of 20 Guide Dog Trainee’s. Each dog is assigned a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor who they work alongside for 4-5 months. During this Formal Training the dog will be taught the ins and outs of what it takes to become a Guide Dog. Upon completion of their training the dog will then be matched with a blind or visually impaired individual.

Guide Dog Home town Training Package
Freedom specializes in Hometown Training. A unique training program that gives the ability for the visually impaired client to train alongside their Guide Dog and Guide Dog Mobility Instructor in the comfort of their Home Town. Upon completion of Formal Training, the Guide Dog Graduates get placed with their handler. The trainer travels with the dog directly to the home of the client and will work beside the team for 10-14 days making sure they are a great match and travel safely and confidently together. We place, on average, 40 dogs per year. 20 in the Spring and 20 in the Fall.

gAS EXPENSES
Our Training vehicles are used Monday-Friday while classes are in session. The trainers work the dogs near and far and train them in all sorts of various locations. With 3 training vehicles out at once we make frequent trips to the gas pumps!
You can donate gas gift cards or a monetary donation towards fuel for our training vehicles!
We also have Puppy Department Vehicles that are used for trips to the Vets office, dropping off and picking up puppies in training and transporting pups down to their puppy raisers all along the East Coast!
HOTEL STAYS
Specializing in Home Town training places our Guide Dog Mobility Instructors far from home during the Spring and Fall months. Our trainers stay in hotel rooms near where their clients are located for 10-14 days at a time. We feel training our visually impaired clients in the comfort of their Home Town enhances the training aspect for the client and guide dog and they will be better bonded and comfortable when out working on their own. Please consider making a donation towards our Hotel Expenses today!
