Freedom Guide Dogs was founded in 1992 by husband and wife, Eric and Sharon Loori. Freedom Guide Dogs (FGD) is a non-profit 501©3 organization that is dedicated to changing the lives of those who are blind or visually impaired. Based in Central, New York, we breed, raise, train & place guide dogs with individuals who are legally blind through our distinctive training program, Hometown Training™. Our services are provided completely FREE of charge to the recipient!
For over 30 years we have impacted the lives of over 600 people in need. This would not be possible without our hard-working, dedicated, & generous staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, donors, & supporters! THANK YOU.
Freedom Guide Dogs for the Blind, inc. provides guide dogs through “Hometown Training™” with people in the Eastern U.S. who are legally blind & may have other physical challenges. This service is free of charge. Our services enable clients to benefit from the assistance & companionship of a guide dog while continuing to meet daily responsibilities at home & potentially on-the-job near the end of instruction. Our staff & volunteers are committed to helping those who are blind or visually impaired realize their potential & remain or become productive members of society. By enabling legally blind people to make the most of their energies & abilities, we’re ultimately advancing the quality of life in communities where our clients live and work.
We are dedicated to bringing our Hometown Training™
to all legally blind people including those who are blind with other disabilities in the Eastern U.S. who need & qualify for our services. We intend to honor our commitment during the years ahead with a significantly expanded staff, greater public awareness of our work, further enhanced physical facilities, & a diverse network of accountable, passionate, & highly capable volunteers. Achieving this vision for the future will benefit many disabled individuals, their families, & many more whose lives they touch with their courage & perseverance.
